Lagos State Receives 80,000 Bags Of Rice From Dangote Foundation For Vulnerable Households

In a bid to alleviate the impact of current hardships faced by vulnerable households, the Lagos State Government has received a substantial donation of 80,000 bags of 10 kg rice. The donation, aimed at providing immediate relief, was graciously supplied by the Aliko Dangote Foundation.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu warmly welcomed the fully loaded trucks of rice at the Government House in alausa ikeja, where a ceremony was held to mark the occasion. The Chairman of the Aliko Dangote Group, accompanied by his billionaire associate Mr. Femi Otedola and his daughter Fatimah Dangote to officially handover the bags of rice to the government for distribution.

Expressing gratitude for the timely intervention, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the significance of collaboration between government, civil society organizations, and the private sector in addressing the needs of the less privileged. He noted that the donation comes at a crucial time, especially considering the economic challenges faced by Nigerians.

The Managing Director of the Aliko Dangote Foundation outlined the meticulous distribution plan, ensuring that the rice reaches the most deserving individuals across all states, with a special focus on those experiencing multidimensional poverty and observing Ramadan.

Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, stressed the Foundation's commitment to supporting communities during the holy month of Ramadan, extending aid beyond the Muslim community to encompass all faiths. He announced plans to distribute rice to all 36 states and the federal capital territory, demonstrating the Foundation's dedication to national solidarity.

Governor Sanwo-Olu further revealed the state government's plan to distribute 100,000 combo boxes of food items to support the populace during these challenging times. He called upon other private entities to emulate the altruistic spirit demonstrated by the Aliko Dangote Foundation.
